Your Career

PhillyPLUS Residents graduate with the skills and resources to jumpstart a successful career leading a Philadelphia school—and join a supportive network of like-minded leaders from across the city.

Where You’ll Train

Join a supportive network of like-minded leaders from across the city.

As a Resident, you’ll spend your first year working and training full-time, in either your current school or one of our partner schools. We’re proud to partner with district, charter, and parochial schools throughout Philadelphia. Learn more about a few of our school partners here.

When you apply, you will indicate your preference for leading in a district, charter, or parochial school. Once selected, PhillyPLUS staff will have individualized placement conversations with all incoming Residents. An exact match is not guaranteed, but we’ll try to accommodate preferences whenever possible.

Where You’ll Work

After you successfully complete the Residency, our staff will help you secure a permanent school leadership position in a Philadelphia school. PhillyPLUS does not guarantee placement, but we will conduct outreach with our partner schools, coordinate interviews, and coach you as you apply for leadership opportunities across Philadelphia. We encourage all of our graduates to remain in a local school leadership position for at least five years, so that as many Philadelphia students and teachers as possible can benefit from strong, capable leaders.

Salary and Benefits

As a full-time employee, you will receive full benefits and the starting salary for a school leader in the school system that hires you.

"PLUS has prepared me to be an effective school leader by providing me with support and professional development anchored in best practices employed in transformational schools across the country."

Corey Dwyer, 2015-16 Cohort
Principal, People for People Charter School

Pennsylvania Certification

By successfully completing the PhillyPLUS Residency and all other state requirements, you will earn an Administrative I Certificate. The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) will issue an Administrative II Certificate to Administrative I Certificate holders when they complete three years of satisfactory service on the Level I Administrative Certificate and complete the PDE-approved PA Inspired Leadership (PIL) Induction Program.

Support After Graduation

Our support doesn’t end when you finish the program. In your first year after graduating, you’ll continue working with your leadership coach, meet regularly with your cohort, and participate in professional development events.

During your second year of school leadership, PhillyPLUS staff will provide you with assistance and support as needed. You’ll also have the opportunity to mentor incoming PhillyPLUS Residents.

The application deadline to join our 2019 cohort is Monday, March 25th at 9:00AM EST.
