Who We Want

The PhillyPLUS program brings leaders with diverse backgrounds and experiences to Philadelphia schools.

PhillyPLUS Residency

Our residents are a diverse set of experienced educators with a strong track record in the classroom and a deep commitment to Philadelphia’s students. Most applicants for PhillyPLUS Residency will have prior experience leading adults—as teacher leaders, instructional coaches, or department chairs—but this is not a requirement.

Under the certification guidelines of the Pennsylvania Department of Education, candidates must have at least 3 years of experience in a certified, school-based role in order to be eligible for the PhillyPLUS Residency. You can learn more about Pennsylvania certification requirements here.

PhillyPLUS Turnaround

Take your skills as an experienced school leader to the next level.

Our leaders have experience leading teachers and school communities and are committed to helping transform Philadelphia’s highest-need schools. Many applicants for PhillyPLUS Turnaround have experience in school leadership—as principals, assistant principals, and deans—managing and supporting teachers and building relationships with students and families.

The PhillyPLUS Turnaround program prepares leaders for the unique challenges of leading in a turnaround school. While an administrative certification is not required to be accepted, leadership experience is a prerequisite. Accepted applicants without an administrative certification will be supported in earning certification on a case-by-case basis.

"PLUS has shown me that effective school leaders are instructional leaders! We directly influence teacher practice in order to positively impact student achievement."

Ayris Colvin, 2015-16 Cohort

Applications are currently closed and will reopen in the spring for the 2018-2019 school year. Sign up for our mailing list and be the first to know when the application goes live!
